Fujiten Snow Resort – A Small Resort Great for Families and Close to Tokyo

Do you want to ski Mt Fuji?  You can the base of Mt Fuji at Fujiten Snow Resort.  Established in 1986, Fujiten Snow Resort is located in Yamanashi Prefecture, just 90 minutes away by car, at the northern base of Mount Fuji in the foothills

Fujiten Snow Resort is quite small covering about 65 hectares, compared to other Japanese resorts, but there is quite good, varied terrain for skiers and snowboarders, from novice up to intermediate or a bit more.  There is an exclusive zone for kids to learn, wide and easy novice runs and even some more terrain for more advanced skiers, including moguls.  For snowboarders, the resort offers a limited number of rails, boxes, and kickers.  

For kids, Chibikko Ai Land offers a slope designed just for them.  Kids can learn to ski and snowboard here.  The resort also offers sledding..  Entrance is Yen 800 (2024).  A ski school is also available here.

Is Rental Equipment Available at Fujiten Snow Resort?

Everything is available here. For skiers, there are skis, poles, boots and ski wear such as jackets, pants, goggles and helmets. For snowboarders, the same is available. They have adults and junior sizes.

How About Lessons?

Lessons are available. In fact, instructors teach all levels. You can also certify your skiing and snowboarding levels by the Ski Association of Japan. Kinder lessons only start from 4 years old and up.

Is there Babysitting Available?

Fujiten Snow Resort also offers a nursery and babysitting services so parents can enjoy a day out on the slopes. You’ll need to be there from 1200 to 1300hrs hours though as the they are not open then. We encourage making advanced reservations.

Check out their website for current snow conditions here . To get some good snow forecast info, check this out. You can also see their live webcam here. Fujiten relies heavily on its excellent snow-making machines due to the relatively low amount of snow they receive.

When is Fujiten Open?

Fujiten Snow Resort is typically open from mid December to the beginning of April. Again, check their website for details. Lifts run from 0900hrs to 1630hrs Monday to Sunday. Night skiing lifts operate from 1600hrs to 2100hrs but only on weekdays and holidays.

Is there Night Skiing At Fujiten?

Yes, there is night skiing. Night season is not all season long. At Fujiten, night skiing normally starts in late December and finishes in late March. Night skiing is extended or shortened based on weather conditions. Night skiing is only available on weekends and holidays.

In the summer, Fujiten Snow Resort all offers skiing on plastic mats that simulate snow!
